Banana Bars with Brown Butter Frosting

Delight in the scrumptious goodness of Banana Bars with Brown Butter Frosting, a heavenly fusion of ripe bananas and moist cake-like texture. Whether you crave a wholesome snack or a delectable dessert, these bars are a delightful choice.

– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar – 1 cup sour cream or greek yogurt – 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter – 2 eggs – 3 bananas, mashed – 1 tbsp vanilla extract – 2 cups all purpose flour – 1 tsp baking soda – 1/2 tsp salt – 1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan and set it aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, eggs, sour cream, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy

In a small bowl, mash the bananas with a potato masher or fork.

Add mashed bananas, all purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla extract. Mixing until smooth.

Fold in the walnuts, if you are using them.

Spread into your prepared baking pan. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick tested in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool.

Gather the ingredients for the brown butter frosting.

In a large pan, over medium heat, melt the butter. Cook until it has turned a golden brown, with a nutty aroma (about 3-4 minutes). Quickly remove from heat, so you do not burn it.

Whisk in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, until smooth.

Spread quickly over the banana bars, as the frosting will thicken fast. Sprinkle with extra walnuts or banana slices. Slice and enjoy!
