Baked French Toast Casserole

Make your mornings memorable with this Simple French Toast Casserole. It is prepared  in one pan and contains all the same great ingredients as classic French toast!

Ingredients:

– 10 cups thick bread, cut into bite-sized pieces – 2 1/2 cups milk – 6 eggs – 1/2 tsp salt – 2 tsp vanilla extract – 2 tsp ground cinnamon – 1/4 cup maple syrup – 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened – 1 cup brown sugar, packed – 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped (optional)

Step 1:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x13" baking pan with nonstick spray.   Cut bread into 1 inch cubes.

Step 2:

In a medium or large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, syrup, vanilla, 1 tsp of cinnamon, and salt, until well combined.

Step 3:

Spread cubed bread into the prepared baking dish.

Step 4:

Carefully pour egg mixture over the top of the bread cubes, as evenly as possible.

In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon and 4 tbsp of softened butter together to form a crumbly topping.

Sprinkle brown sugar topping over the bread.

Step 7:

Bake 30-40 minutes or until middle is set. Cool 5-10 minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!
