– 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour – 1/2 cup cocoa powder – 1 tsp baking powder – 1/2 tsp salt – 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter – 1 cup brown sugar – 1 cup granulated sugar – 4 eggs, room temperature – 1 tbsp vanilla extract – 1 oz red food coloring – 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened – 8 oz cream cheese, softened – 1 tsp vanilla extract – 3-4 cups powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 9x13" baking pan with non-stick spray or parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, melt butter (or melt in a small bowl and add to a large mixing bowl). Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, whisking until well combined.
Whisk in eggs until smooth.
Next, mix in vanilla extract and 1 ounce of red food coloring.
Stir dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Combine just until no dry flour streaks.
Spread into your prepared baking pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the center is clean. Do not overbake. Cool.
Once brownies are completely cooled, start preparing the cream cheese frosting. In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine butter, cream cheese, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Add powdered sugar a little at a time until well incorporated and the desired consistency.
Spread onto the cool brownies. Slice and enjoy!
