FAQs

What are Cinnamon Chip Cookies?

Cinnamon Chip Cookies are delicious, spiced cookies made with cinnamon-flavored baking chips, offering a unique and warm flavor that's perfect for any time of year, especially during the fall and winter months.

Can I make the dough ahead of time?

Yes, you can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the dough for up to 3 months. If freezing, scoop the dough into balls and freeze them on a baking sheet before transferring them to a freezer-safe bag or container. Bake from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.

What if I can't find cinnamon baking chips?

If you can't find cinnamon baking chips, you can substitute with a mix of white chocolate chips and a teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Alternatively, you can chop up cinnamon-flavored candy bars or use butterscotch or toffee chips for a different flavor twist.

Top Tips

  • Allow your butter and eggs to come to room temperature before using them. This ensures even mixing and a smoother cookie dough.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until they are light and fluffy. This aeration step is crucial for creating a tender and soft cookie.
  • After mixing the cookie dough, chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Chilled dough is easier to handle, and it helps prevent cookies from spreading too much during baking.
  • Preheat oven to the correct temperature. An oven thermometer can help ensure accuracy. Baking at the right temperature ensures even baking and prevents cookies from burning or spreading too much.
  • Keep a close eye on the cookies as they bake. They should be slightly golden brown around the edges but still appear slightly undercooked in the center when you remove them from the oven. They will continue to cook a bit as they cool on the baking sheet.
  • Store cinnamon chip cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. Adding a slice of bread can help keep them soft and fresh for longer.
