This is my favorite go to recipe for peanut butter fudge! I have made it for so many years and know how it will usually go right or wrong. I have had the fudge become too grainy or not set right. Usually it is all about the boiling time and making sure the sugar is all dissolved. Let us know below if you have any questions or comments!

FAQs

Can I make Peanut Butter Fudge without a candy thermometer?

Yes, you can use the soft ball stage test:
Drop a small amount of the boiling sugar mixture into a cup of cold water.
If it forms a soft ball that flattens when removed from the water, it is ready.

What can I do if my fudge doesn't set properly?

If your fudge doesn’t set, you can try:
Reheating the mixture and cooking it a bit longer to reach the proper temperature.
Refrigerating the fudge to help it firm up.

What type of peanut butter works best for this recipe?

Regular creamy or crunchy peanut butter works best. Avoid using whipped or reduced-fat peanut butter, as they can alter the consistency of the fudge.

Top Tips

  • Use regular peanut butter and not natural, which has oils in it that can affect the texture and setting of the fudge.
  • Follow the times and stovetop temperature closely. If it is too high or too low, the fudge is more likely to have errors-grainy or not setting.
  • Start with the timing once it reaches a boil, then allow it to boil for 2 minutes.
  • Store fudge in an airtight container for up to a week on the counter and up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
