What is better than a bag of M&M's, an M&M cookie! You will find these cookies to be such a hit with all ages. Such a fun and versatile cookie. There are M&M's sold for almost every holiday, so you can switch them up for Christmas, Halloween, Valentine's Day, Easter, etc. I add in semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips but you can also change that to nothing but M&M's or throw in white chocolate chips, dark chocolate. Any or all will make for a delicious cookie. The best is right out of the oven and still warm! I hope you enjoy these like we do.

FAQs

What are M&M Cookies?

M&M Cookies are classic, soft, and chewy cookies loaded with colorful M&M candies. They combine the deliciousness of a traditional chocolate chip cookie with the crunch and vibrant colors of M&Ms.

Can I make the cookie dough ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the cookie dough in advance. Store the dough in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When ready to bake, let the dough sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before forming cookies and baking.

Can I freeze the cookie dough?

Yes, you can freeze the cookie dough. Scoop the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze until solid, then transfer the dough balls to a freezer bag or airtight container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen, adding an extra minute or two to the baking time.

Why did my cookies spread too much?

Cookies may spread too much if the dough is too warm. Chilling the dough before baking can help. Also, ensure your butter is not too soft or melted when mixing.

Can I make smaller or larger cookies?

Yes, you can adjust the size of the cookies. For smaller cookies, reduce the baking time by a couple of minutes. For larger cookies, increase the baking time by a few minutes. Always keep an eye on the cookies and check for doneness.

Top Tips

  • A good cookie scoop is so helpful for this type of cookie. They help keep the cookies mostly the same size.
  • We love to switch out the M&M's with the seasonal types, such as Valentine's Day, Christmas, Fourth of July.
  • Do not overbake the cookies, to ensure you have them soft, chewy, and crispy. You can remove them from the oven right before they are done, to finish baking on the sheet.
  • For a soft and chewy texture, make sure to use softened butter and avoid overmixing the dough. This helps create tender cookies that are just the right amount of chewy.
  • If you want to enjoy that freshly baked taste, pop them in the microwave for a few seconds to warm them up. Your taste buds will thank you!
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for maximum freshness. To keep them soft and chewy, you can also add a slice of bread to the container - the cookies will absorb the moisture and stay delicious for days. As if they'll last that long.
