Peanut Butter Pudding is a peanut butter lover's dream dessert. It's so creamy and flavorful but still so easy to make.

This recipe took a lot of experimenting to get the right flavor and creaminess. The idea for this was from my husband when we were talking about my Butterfinger Poke Cake. Strangely enough we finally got it right using an old vanilla or banana pudding recipe as a base. The other recipes we were trying just didn't get it with the correct pudding consistency. Top Tips

  • You will whisk this a lot, be prepared with those wrist muscles. You can use an electric mixer, if needed.
  • The flour can sometimes get into the edges of the pan, so pay special attention to those areas.
  • It is easy to burn the bottom, so keeping a close eye on the stove is very important.
  • Use creamy peanut butter, but if you like the crunch, add some peanuts on top when serving.


How to make Peanut Butter Pudding from Scratch

  1. In a medium to large saucepan over medium heat, whisk sugar, flour, milk, and salt.

  2. Add in the egg yolks, whisk often, until thickened, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. Once thickened, remove from heat and whisk or stir in peanut butter, plus vanilla extract.

  4. Combine until smooth and creamy.

  5. Pour pudding into a bowl, cover and place in refrigerator to cool at least one hour. If it is too thick for you, add a little more milk to get the consistency you prefer. Place into bowls, add a little whipped cream or peanuts on top and enjoy!

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
