FAQs
No-Bake Oreo Dirt Cake is a creamy, layered dessert made with a crushed Oreo cookie base, a smooth cream cheese and pudding filling, and topped with more crushed Oreos to resemble dirt. It's a fun and delicious treat that's perfect for parties and gatherings.
Freezing is not recommended as the texture of the pudding and cream cheese layer may change once thawed.
Yes, you can use different pudding flavors to change the taste of your dirt cake. Chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and cream pudding all work well.
Top Tips
- Decorate for any holiday or party by just switching the type of candy used. We tried lollipops but they did not work that great and was dripping onto the top.
- Make sure the pudding box says “INSTANT” pudding mix and not Cook and Serve (which will turn out runny for this recipe).
- To ensure smooth blending, let your cream cheese and butter sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before using it in your Christmas Oreo Dirt Cake. It'll be much easier to work with and will give you a creamy texture.
- No food processor? No problem! Simply place the Oreo cookies in a sealed plastic bag and crush them using a rolling pin or the back of a spoon. It might take a bit more effort, but the result is just as satisfying. Plus, you'll get a little workout in the process!
- If you manage to resist devouring the entire Christmas Oreo Dirt Cake in one go (kudos to you!), be sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container or covered rightly with plastic wrap in the refrigerator. It should stay fresh for up to 3-4 days. Just be warned, it might mysteriously disappear before then. Desserts have a way of doing that!
