FAQs

What is Crockpot Orange Chicken?

Crockpot Orange Chicken is a slow-cooked dish featuring tender chicken pieces cooked in a sweet and tangy orange sauce. It’s a convenient and delicious meal that can be easily prepared in a crockpot.

Can I use frozen chicken?

Yes, you can use frozen chicken, but it’s recommended to thaw the chicken first for even cooking. If you use frozen chicken directly, you may need to adjust the cooking time.

What can I serve with Crockpot Orange Chicken?

Rice: White rice, brown rice, or fried rice.
Noodles: Lo mein, soba, or rice noodles.
Vegetables: Steamed broccoli, snap peas, or stir-fried mixed vegetables.
Salad: A fresh green salad or an Asian-inspired slaw.

Can I add vegetables to the crockpot?

Yes, you can add vegetables like bell peppers, snap peas, or broccoli to the crockpot. Add them during the last hour of cooking to ensure they stay crisp-tender.

Top Tips

  • If you're around during the cooking process, it's a good idea to give everything a gentle stir once or twice, ensuring the sauce coats the chicken evenly.
  • Is the sauce too thin at the end of the cooking time? Thicken it up with cornstarch and water. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1-2 tablespoons of cold water and then stir this into the crockpot. Allow it to cook for an additional 15-30 minutes on the low setting, or until the sauce thickens to your liking.
  • Any leftovers? Place them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

How to make Crockpot Orange Chicken

  1. Spray the slow cooker with nonstick spray. Add diced chicken, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. The chicken will make plenty of juice, so no need to any anything else. Cook 1 hour on high or 2 hours on low, drain juices (spoon it out or use paper towels to dab moisture).
